Porto, the practical bits

Metro line E. Metro line E (violet) from the airport to the centre is a Z4 trip: €2.30 plus €0.60 for the Andante card, or a contactless bank card at the airport station. Allow about 25 to 30 minutes to Trindade. Source: Andante: pay with Visa/Mastercard · checked 6 Nov 2026

Validate on every change
Tap your Andante at the yellow readers each time you board, including when you change lines. A ticket is valid for a set time inside its zones from the first tap.
Walking across the bridge
The upper deck of the big iron bridge carries the metro and pedestrians to Gaia and the port lodges. It is high and exposed, so keep children close in wind.
Gaia has its own tax
Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river, charges its own tourist tax, different from Porto's.
